The Porsche 911 is a sports car that has been produced by the German automaker since 1963. The Porsche 911 is born from the development of the legendary Porsche 356, which had by then reached its peak. The son of Ferry Porsche, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche nicknamed by his family as “Butzi”, was entrusted with the design of the new car. The designers decided to involve the technical and stylistic characteristics of the 356, with the rear mounted air-cooled box-er engine, but with enough interior space to accommodate 4 people. The construction of this car would enable Porsche to get into the Grand Turismo market. The technical development was not very complicated and the new mechanics, including the unprecedented six-cylinder boxer, were ready in 1961. The design of the body proved more problematic. The prototype ‘T7’ made by the end of 1959 did not convince the heads of the project as it was not able to keep an appearance of elegance with the need for rear passenger seats. Butzi was then forced to abandon the initial idea of the 4 seats and fold on the 2+2 configuration. In 1972 Butzi proposed the 911 Carrera RS (RennSport) which had a 210HP engine, mechanical injection, and the classic 6.cylinder boxer engine and a lightweight body, with hoods and doors in aluminum. It was recognized by the famous rear wing "duck tail", an adhesive strip on the side and the wheels with matching alloy strips. It was available only in coupe version. The 3.0 Carrera was produced only between 1976 an 1977 with a 200 hp engine in just 2564 copies.
