The "Speedster" is a version of the famous "356" series cars that Porsche produced continuously from 1948 to 1966. The chrome strip on the sides gave it extra momentum. The ‘economic’ policy also led to the alteration of the inside, which had simpler seats without the folding backrest. The dashboard was without a drawer and instead of crystal side panels the windows were plastic panels, which greatly reduced visibility. Despite Ferry Porsche’s skepticism towards the idea of marketing an “economic” car, the 356 found favor with the pubic both for its charm, due to the unusual shape, as its excellent relationship between quality and price.
