Jaguar XK-120 DHC

The XK120 was a luxury sports car produced by Jaguar from 1984 to 1954. It was the first of Jaguar’s sporty cars after the SS 100, which was produced until 1940. The XK120 was launched in as a roadster version at the Motor Show in London in October 27th of 1948 as the test vehicle. The goal for the presentation of the car was to propose a vehicle, for demonstration purposes, that was mounted with the new XK6 Jaguar engine. The model, however, aroused a lot of interest, which convinced William Lyons to produce it in a series. The first 242 copies, which were hand built from 1948 to 1950, had aluminum bodywork, frame, and crossbars, which was derived from the Mark V and was manufactured in ash wood. When the model went into series production in 1950, the bodywork was manufactured in steel with the aim to reduce costs. The doors, hood, and rear remained in aluminum. With double carburetors, head wheels, a double overhead camshaft, a Jaguar XK6 in-line six-cylinder 3.4 L displacement engine, this model was very technologically advanced at the time.
