The VW type 1, better known as "Beetle" is a compact car produced from 1939 to 2003 by Volkswagen. It is definitely the best-known German car in the world, symbol of German industrial revival after World War II. It was at the behest of Hitler, in fact, that in 1934 it was put into production as a car for everyone, because in those years most other cars were not affordable to the average citizen. The 60s and 70s saw the consecration of the beetle, the years when it reached its maximum splendor. Many people could now afford a car and despite the unchanging aesthetic, its mechanics designed decades ago by Ing. Ferdinand Porsche, suffered in modern times and were obsolete. Starting in 1976, a number of convertible models were put into production. The latest version produced in Mexico, finally ceased production in July 2003 The Beetle will, slowly and difficulty, disappear from our streets: most of the 22 million cars built drive countless miles across the streets around the world evreyday, asking in return only a little oil and gas.
Thanks to its simple and "friendly" design, as well as the memory of a wonderful era make it one of the most rented cars.
