The heir to the Porsche 356...

Porsche 912

The Porsche 912 is a sports car produced by the German car manufacturer Porsche from 1965 to 1969. It was introduced as a lower-end model to the famous Porsche 911, with the aim of reaching a wider clientele by offering a more affordable alternative in terms of of price.

The Porsche 912 was presented as the successor to the Porsche 356, the company's flagship model until then. Aesthetically, the 912 looked a lot like the 911, but had some substantial differences. For example, it had a 1.6-litre opposed-four (Boxer) engine instead of the six-cylinder engine of the 911. The power output of the 912 was lower than the 911, but the car still offered good performance and a of enjoyable driving.

The Porsche 912 engine delivered around 90 horsepower, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 11 seconds and reach a top speed of around 200 km/h. The gearbox was a 4-speed manual.

Body-wise, the Porsche 912 was available as both a coupé and a convertible. It had a classic and refined design, with elegant and aerodynamic lines typical of the sports cars of the time.

Production of the Porsche 912 was stopped in 1969, when it was replaced by the Porsche 914 as the entry model in the Porsche range. Despite its short production run, the 912 has earned a reputation for great reliability and has developed a dedicated fan base over the years.
